Finally, a Video Game School

Whether out of desperation or inspiration, the new Dayton Technology Design High School has created a program focused on video gaming, reports the Dayton Daily News. The administrators at the high school noticed that academic passion was plummeting and had to find a way to capture students interest.

"That's what they love," said David White, the school's chief academic officer. "That's the hook."

The innovative program will have about 100 students, with 80 in the "virtual game" track. Aside from spending a lot of hours in front of a video monitor, the course includes concept design, building and possibly selling their own video game.

"When we first started talking about the video game, people laughed at us," Superintendent Percy Mack said. "But they laughed at the Wright brothers, too."
