Baltimore, Md. – BreakAway Ltd., a leading developer of game-based technology solutions for training, experimentation and decision-making analysis will demonstrate the medical training tool Pulse!! and Incident Commander™, an training tool that allows first responders to better train on a coordinated multi-agency response to natural disasters or acts of terrorism, for the Congressional Caucus on Modeling and Simulation on July 15, 2008, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Lobby Room of the Rayburn House Office Building.

Pulse!!

Incident Commander™

At the event, BreakAway will demonstrate Pulse!! an innovative, game-based technology to allow students and medical professionals a virtual tool to practice decision-making protocol and clinical skills on their PCs, in a virtual hospital setting, anywhere, at anytime, in a safe learning environment for members and staff. Pulse!! was developed in conjunction with Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi as part of its medical school training curriculum.

The Pulse!! project was pioneered and is directed by Dr. Claudia L. McDonald, Associate Vice President for Special Projects at TAMU-CC, in order to address educational and training issues presented by the growing healthcare professional shortage. BreakAway is currently using the Pulse!! engine to create a dental implant training simulation with the Medical College of Georgia.

Incident Commander is the latest version of BreakAway’s popular training tool for first responders, initially distributed by the U.S. Justice Department to more than 30,000 public safety authorities, state and regional authorities around the country. The new release allows users to set scenarios for tabletop and other homeland security training in actual settings to allow emergency responders to simulate response to natural disasters or acts of terrorism.
